San Leandro Bay is a part of the larger San Francisco Bay. It is a body of water located on the eastern side of the bay. Today, it is connected to the Oakland Estuary. However, long ago, land separated San Leandro Bay from the Estuary. This land used to connect the cities of Alameda and Oakland.

San Leandro Bay is found near important landmarks. It lies to the east of the Oakland International Airport. It is also next to Bay Farm Island.

Water Flowing In

Many streams and creeks flow into San Leandro Bay. The most important one is San Leandro Creek. This creek brings fresh water into the bay.

Other Creeks

Several other smaller streams also feed into San Leandro Bay. These include the East Creek and Peralta Creek areas. The Lion Creek and Arroyo Viejo areas also contribute water. These creeks are like small rivers that flow into a larger body of water.

Natural Areas

San Leandro Bay is home to important natural areas. One such place is Damon Marsh. Marshes are wetlands that are very important for wildlife. They provide homes for many birds, fish, and other animals.
