Sanaa (Arabic: صَنْعَاء Ṣanʿāʾ), also known as San'a', is a large region in Yemen. Its main city is also called Sanaa. This city is the capital of Yemen. However, the city of Sanaa is a separate area and not part of the Sanaa Governorate itself.

The Sanaa Governorate covers about 13,850 square kilometers (5,350 square miles). In 2004, about 2.9 million people lived there. This region is home to Jabal An-Nabi Shu'ayb. This is the highest mountain in Yemen and the entire Arabian Peninsula.
