Sandy David León López (born March 13, 1989) is a professional baseball catcher. He was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Sandy has played for many teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). These include the Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Rangers. He is currently part of the Atlanta Braves organization. Sandy has also played for the Colombia national baseball team.

Sandy's Baseball Journey
Starting with the Washington Nationals
Sandy León began his professional baseball career in 2007. He signed with the Washington Nationals when he was 17 years old. He started playing in the minor leagues. These are teams where players develop their skills before joining the major leagues.
Sandy played for several minor league teams. He worked his way up through the different levels. On May 13, 2012, he got his first chance to play in the major leagues. He made his MLB debut the next day. During that game, he got hurt in a collision at home plate.
Playing for the Boston Red Sox
In 2015, Sandy was traded to the Boston Red Sox. He played 41 games for them that year. He had a batting average of .184.
In 2016, Sandy started the season in the minor leagues again. But he was called up to the Red Sox in June. He had a great year, batting .310 in 78 games. He also hit seven home runs.
