Santa Clara de Olimar is right on the border with the Cerro Largo Department. You can find it on Route 7 at a spot called Km. 282. The town is about 34 kilometers northeast of Cerro Chato. It is also about 20 kilometers southwest of Tupambaé.
When Was Santa Clara de Olimar Founded?
The town started as "Olimar" on March 7, 1878. It was officially declared a "Pueblo," which means village, on June 12, 1911. Later, on August 21, 1962, its name was changed to "Santa Clara de Olimar." At the same time, it was given the higher status of "Villa," meaning town.
