Historic Churches of Santa Cruz de la Serós
Santa Cruz de la Serós is famous for its two very old churches. These churches are built in a style called First Romanesque. The name "Serós" comes from the word "Sorores," which means "Sisters" in Latin. This is because nuns used to live here.
Church of Saint Mary
The Church of Saint Mary used to be a monastery. It was built in the 11th century, which means it's over 900 years old! This church is a very special example of Aragonese Romanesque architecture. It has a unique elevated room above the main part of the church and a tall tower.
Church of San Caprasio
The Church of San Caprasio is another ancient church in the village. It was built even earlier, at the beginning of the 11th century. This church is dedicated to Saint Caprasius.
