Sappington got its name from a family of early settlers. A famous explorer named Daniel Boone often visited Missouri. He would tell people in Kentucky about the great land available there.

The Sappington Family Arrives

The rest of the Sappington family moved to the area the next year. Over time, their family members spread out. They helped settle parts of what are now Crestwood and Sunset Hills.

Thomas Sappington's House

The house of Thomas Sappington, one of the first settlers, is still standing. The City of Crestwood takes care of it today. It's a cool way to see a piece of history!
