When Was Sunset Hills Founded?
Sunset Hills became an official city in June 1957. Later, in 1973, it started its own Police Department. In 1981, the city created a public works department. This department helps keep the city clean and running smoothly.
A Difficult Day in History
On December 31, 2010, a strong tornado hit Sunset Hills. It caused damage to many buildings and homes. Sadly, one person died, and others were hurt. This event affected a few blocks around Lindbergh Boulevard.

Kitun Dog Park
The cities of Sunset Hills and Crestwood worked together to create Kitun Dog Park. It opened in July 2014 and is located inside Kitun Park.
- The park has separate areas for small and large dogs.
- Residents of Sunset Hills and Crestwood can get a yearly membership for their dogs for $40.
- Non-residents can also use the park for an annual fee of $55.
- You can get membership tags at the Sunset Hills Community Center.
Athletic Complex
Sunset Hills has six athletic fields for the community.
- Three lighted fields and one unlighted field are at 13555 West Watson Road.
- Two unlighted soccer fields are at 801 Old Gravois Road.
These fields are used for softball leagues, sports associations, and tournaments. They are also available for rent.
