Sara Gross (born March 26, 1976) is a former professional athlete who competed in the challenging sport of triathlon. A triathlon is a race that includes three different sports: swimming, cycling, and running, all done one after the other.
Sara was born in Sarnia, Ontario, in Canada, but she competed for Great Britain during her career. She grew up in different parts of the world, including Kitchener, Ontario, and Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates. After a successful career, Sara retired from professional racing in 2016 to focus on her work in media.

Early Life and Education
For high school, Sara attended the famous Dollar Academy in Scotland. She then returned to Canada for college, going to Queen's University. There, she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees.
Sara continued her studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. In 2006, she earned a PhD, which is the highest university degree, in ancient history and religion. Her main research was about women's history. It was while she was studying in Edinburgh that she discovered her passion for triathlons and started competing.
A Champion Triathlete
Sara Gross became a top competitor in long-distance triathlons. These are some of the toughest endurance races in the world.
In 2005, she won the ITU European Long Distance Triathlon Championship. This race involved a 4-kilometer swim, a 120-kilometer bike ride, and a 30-kilometer run.
Her success continued, and in 2014, she had an amazing year. She won two major Ironman Triathlon events: Ironman Brazil and Ironman Mont-Tremblant in Canada. Winning an Ironman is a huge achievement for any triathlete.

After retiring from racing, Sara Gross used her experience to help others and promote fairness in sports.
Promoting Equality in Triathlon
In 2014, Sara co-founded an organization called TriEqual. It is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that works to make sure women have the same opportunities as men in the sport of triathlon. She is currently the president of the organization.
Coaching and Other Work
Sara also co-founded a triathlon club called Mercury Rising Triathlon in Victoria, British Columbia, where she worked as a coach. She was also a member of the Bahrain Endurance Team, a professional team supported by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad al Khalifa. In addition, she has worked as a podcast host for a network focused on women's sports.
