Sara Zaafarani Zenzari (born January 26, 1963) is an important politician and engineer from Tunisia. Since March 2025, she has been the Prime Minister of Tunisia, which is like the head of the government. Before becoming Prime Minister, she worked as the Minister of Public Works and Housing.
Early Life and Education
Sara Zaafarani Zenzari was born in Tunis, Tunisia, on January 26, 1963. She studied engineering at two different universities. She earned a civil engineering degree from the National Engineering School of Tunis. Later, she got a master's degree in geotechnical engineering from Leibniz University Hannover in Germany.
Political Career and Achievements
Sara Zaafarani Zenzari has worked in the Tunisian government for many years. She started her career in the Ministry of Equipment and Housing in the 1980s. From 1989 to 1992, she was a senior engineer. After that, she led the Special Facilities Department from 1992 to 1997.
In 2009, she helped manage a big project. This project involved building a road connecting the cities of Sfax and Gabès. She also worked on other road projects across Tunisia. She was also part of the leadership team for the Tunisian Highway Company.
In 2021, Sara Zaafarani Zenzari became the Minister of Equipment and Housing. She served in this role under several Prime Ministers. These included Najla Bouden, Ahmed Hachani, and Kamel Madouri. From March to August 2024, she also temporarily served as the Minister of Transportation.
On March 21, 2025, President Kais Saied chose her to become the new Prime Minister. She is the second woman in Tunisia's history to hold this important position.
Personal Life
Sara Zaafarani Zenzari is married and has three children. She is very good at languages. She can speak Arabic, French, English, and German.
