Sarah Ellis is a Canadian writer who creates amazing books for children and young adults. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on May 19, 1952. Besides writing, Sarah Ellis has also worked as a librarian and a teacher.

About Sarah Ellis
Sarah Ellis was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has two older brothers.
She went to the University of British Columbia. There, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973. Later, in 1975, she got a Master of Library Science degree. This degree helped her become a librarian.
After working as a librarian in Vancouver, she continued her studies. She went to Simmons College and earned a Master of Arts degree in children's literature in 1980. This means she studied all about books for young people!
Her First Book and Teaching Career
Sarah Ellis published her very first book, The Baby Project, in 1986. This was an exciting start to her writing journey.
In 1999, she was a "writer-in-residence" at Massey College at the University of Toronto. This means she spent time there focusing on her writing and sharing her knowledge.
Sarah Ellis stopped working as a librarian in 2007. But she didn't stop working with books! Soon after, she started teaching at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She also writes reviews for magazines like Quill and Quire and The Horn Book.
Awards and Recognitions
Sarah Ellis has won many awards for her wonderful books. In 1995, she received the Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People. This award celebrates a writer's entire collection of work for young people.
In 2013, she was given the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Literary Excellence. This is a very special award that honors writers from British Columbia. She has also been nominated four times for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. This is one of the biggest awards for children's literature in the world!
In 2012, Sarah Ellis was the main judge for the Boston Globe–Horn Book Award. This award recognizes excellent books for children and young adults.
