Sarah Catharine Paulson (born December 17, 1974) is an American actress. She has won many important awards for her acting. These include a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award. In 2017, Time magazine said she was one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Sarah Paulson started her acting journey in TV shows like American Gothic (1995–1996) and Jack & Jill (1999–2001). She became very well-known for working with producer Ryan Murphy. She starred in nine seasons of his scary TV show American Horror Story from 2011 to 2021. This show earned her five nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award.

She won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for playing Marcia Clark in the TV series The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story (2016). She was also nominated for her roles in the TV film Game Change (2012) and the series Impeachment: American Crime Story (2021). Early Life and Education

Sarah Catharine Paulson was born in Tampa, Florida, on December 17, 1974. Her parents are Catharine Gordon and Douglas Lyle Paulson II. When she was five, her parents divorced. She then moved with her mother and sister to Maine, and later to New York City.

Her mother worked as a waitress. Sarah lived in different parts of New York City, including Queens and Gramercy Park. They finally settled in Park Slope. She spent her summers in Florida with her father. Sarah went to schools in Brooklyn and Manhattan. She studied acting at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Sarah Paulson started acting right after high school in 1994. She made her Broadway debut in the play The Sisters Rosensweig. She also appeared in an episode of Law & Order that same year.

In 1995, Paulson starred in the TV film Friends at Last. She also played a ghost in the TV series American Gothic. She continued to act in plays and TV shows. In 1999, she was in the TV series Jack & Jill. She also appeared in movies like The Other Sister and Held Up.

In 2016, Paulson starred in the first season of American Crime Story, called The People v. O.J. Simpson. She played prosecutor Marcia Clark. Her performance was highly praised. She won many awards for this role, including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. That same year, she starred in the Netflix romantic drama Blue Jay (2016).

In 2016, she starred in the sixth season of American Horror Story, Roanoke. She played two roles: Audrey Tindall and Shelby Miller. She also appeared in the seventh season, Cult (2017), as Ally Mayfair-Richards. She also played Geraldine Page in an episode of Feud (2017).

Paulson was then cast in the heist film Ocean's 8 (2018). She starred alongside many famous actresses. The film was a big success, earning almost $300 million worldwide. In 2017, she was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
