Early Life and Education
Sarunyoo grew up in Kradangnga, a district in Samut Songkhram Province, Thailand. He had four siblings, including the well-known singer and actor Thaneth Warakulnukroh. Sarunyoo was adopted by his aunt, and he used her family name, Wongkrachang, ever since.
He went to Suankularb Wittayalai School for high school. Later, he studied Architecture at Chulalongkorn University. Even though he studied architecture, he found his true passion in acting during college. He once said that his university's acting club showed him what he really wanted to do. He realized he didn't want to be an architect after his third year.
During his time at university, Sarunyoo was a big star on campus. He played many main roles in plays put on by the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Arts. People loved his acting skills and his good looks. These college plays became very popular among students and young workers in the city. He was also a rugby player, which added to his popularity.
Acting Career
Sarunyoo first appeared in the entertainment world as a model for "Dichan" magazine. He posed for many magazines when he was starting his career. After graduating from university, he began acting in TV dramas, films, and stage plays. He also sang many songs for TV dramas. He even joined a comedy TV show called "Petchakart Kwarm Kriad" on Channel 9 with older students from his university.
His first TV drama was Kao Ee Kao Nai Hong Dang on Channel 3. Even though he looked very young, he showed amazing acting skills right from the start. People were impressed by how good he was, even as a new actor.
Public Involvement
Sarunyoo was interested in public issues from a young age. He joined protests in Thailand, including important events like the 1973 Thai popular uprising and the Black May 1992 protests.
In 2006 and 2008, he became involved with a group called the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD). He even became one of their leaders in 2008. Because of his involvement in these public movements, his career was affected. He was removed from some TV hosting jobs and TV drama roles.
Passing Away
Sarunyoo passed away on June 10, 2020. He died from liver cancer at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok.
Family Life
Sarunyoo married Hattaya Katesang, who was a famous radio DJ and businesswoman. Hattaya grew up in London and came back to Thailand after finishing her studies. She met Sarunyoo when they acted together in the drama Dok Fah Lae Dome Pu Jong Hong (1989). They had twin daughters named Supara Wongkrachang (nicknamed Look Noon) and Seetala Wongkrachang (nicknamed Look Nang).
