To finally get a job, Michael decides to try out for a part in a soap opera as a woman. He creates a new identity: Dorothy Michaels.

As Dorothy, Michael gets the role and becomes a big star on the show! But keeping his secret is very tricky. He also falls in love with one of his co-stars, Julie Nichols (played by Jessica Lange), who only knows him as Dorothy. This leads to many funny and complicated situations.
