Satoshi Horinouchi (堀之内 聖, Horinouchi Satoshi, born October 26, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He was a strong defender known for his time with Urawa Reds. He helped the team win major titles like the J1 League and the AFC Champions League.

Football Career Highlights

Satoshi Horinouchi was born in Saitama on October 26, 1979. After finishing his studies at Tokyo Gakugei University, he joined the J1 League club Urawa Reds in 2002.

Rise to Success with Urawa Reds

Horinouchi started getting more chances to play in 2003. By 2005, he was playing many games as a "stopper" in a three-player defense. That year, the Reds won the 2005 Emperor's Cup. Horinouchi even scored the first goal in the final match!

In 2006, he became a regular player. He played as a left defender alongside teammates Keisuke Tsuboi and Marcus Tulio Tanaka. This strong defense helped the Reds win the J1 League championship. It was the first time in the club's history they won this title!

The success continued in 2007 when the Reds won the AFC Champions League. This is a huge tournament for clubs across Asia.

Later Career and Retirement

After 2007, Horinouchi's playing time changed. In 2009, he played many matches as a "defensive midfielder." This position helps protect the defense and win the ball back. However, he did not play at all in 2011.

In 2012, he moved to Yokohama FC, a club in the J2 League. He played as a "center back" there. In 2013, he joined another J2 club, Montedio Yamagata, where he continued to play many games as a center back. Satoshi Horinouchi decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2013 season.
