Satoshi Yamaguchi (山口 悟, Yamaguchi Satoshi, born August 1, 1959) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a goalkeeper. He was also part of the Japan national team.

Satoshi Yamaguchi was born in Oita Prefecture, Japan, on August 1, 1959. He became known as a football goalkeeper. He played for a famous Japanese club and also for his country's national team.
Playing for Mitsubishi Motors
After finishing high school, Satoshi Yamaguchi joined the football club Mitsubishi Motors in 1978. This team was a big name in the Japan Soccer League Division 1.
However, Satoshi was a reserve goalkeeper. This means he was a backup player. The main goalkeeper for the team was Mitsuhisa Taguchi, who was also a player for the Japan national team. Because of this, Satoshi did not get to play in any official games for Mitsubishi Motors. He stayed with the team until he retired in 1984.
Playing for Japan's National Team
Satoshi Yamaguchi also had a chance to play for Japan's national teams.
Japan U-20 Team
In August 1979, Satoshi was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. This team was going to play in the 1979 World Youth Championship. Just like with his club, he was a reserve goalkeeper for this team too. The main goalkeeper was Yasuhito Suzuki. So, Satoshi did not play in any games during this championship.
Japan Senior National Team
Even though he wasn't playing for his club, Satoshi Yamaguchi was selected for the Japan senior national team in February 1981. This was a special decision by Japan's manager, Saburo Kawabuchi. The manager wanted to give young players a chance.
On February 19, 1981, Satoshi Yamaguchi played his first and only game for the Japan national team. This match was against the Singapore team. He played as a goalkeeper in this international game.
