Savitaipale is a small town, also called a municipality, in Finland. Its name means "clay passage." It is located in the South Karelia region of Finland.
Savitaipale is home to about 3,216 people (as of 31 December 2023). The municipality covers an area of 690.56 square kilometres (266.63 sq mi). A large part of this area, 150.81 km2 (58.23 sq mi), is water. This means there are many lakes and rivers.

The wavy line on the coat of arms looks like a castle wall. This symbol shows that Savitaipale was once a very important border town. It was a guardian of the border between 1743 and 1812. The border changed after a peace agreement called the Treaty of Åbo.
