Savannah Janine Shields Wolfe, born on July 1, 1995, is an American who won the title of Miss America 2017. She is from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Before becoming Miss America, she was crowned Miss Arkansas 2016. She received her Miss America crown on September 11, 2016, from the previous winner, Betty Cantrell.

Savvy Shields' Early Life
Savvy Shields studied fine arts at the University of Arkansas. She also earned a minor in business. She graduated from the university in 2018. After her year as Miss America, she went back to the University of Arkansas in January 2018 to finish her studies.
Journey to Miss America
First Pageant Wins
Savvy Shields started competing in pageants when she was younger. In June 2009, she won the title of Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen. She then represented Arkansas at the 2010 Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant. This event took place in Orlando, Florida.
Later, in 2013, she won the Miss Arkansas Collegiate title. After that, she was crowned Miss Collegiate America 2013. This competition also happened in Orlando, Florida, on July 8, 2013.
Becoming Miss Arkansas 2016
In July 2016, Savvy competed as Miss Heart of the Ozarks. She won awards for her lifestyle and fitness, and for her talent. She then went on to win the main title of Miss Arkansas 2016. Her special project for the competition was called "Eat Better, Live Better." This project encouraged people to make healthy food choices.
Winning Miss America 2017
Savvy Shields represented Arkansas at the Miss America 2017 competition. This big event was held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Her platform, or special cause, was still "Eat Better, Live Better."
She won the talent part of the competition with a jazz dance. She performed to the song “They Just Keep Moving the Line” from the TV show Smash. This win also came with a $2,000 scholarship.
During the final round, a judge asked her a question about public figures. Savvy explained that leaders are held to a very high standard. She said that everything they say and do matters. She also mentioned that the media can sometimes make things seem bigger than they are.
Savvy won the 2017 Miss America title. She beat Rachel Wyatt, who was Miss South Carolina 2016. Betty Cantrell, Miss America 2016, crowned her on September 11, 2016. Along with the title, Savvy also received a $50,000 scholarship. She is the third person from Miss Arkansas to win the Miss America title. The others were Donna Axum in 1964 and Elizabeth Ward in 1982.
Personal Life
After her year as Miss America ended, Savvy Shields got engaged. Her long-time boyfriend, Nate Wolfe, proposed to her on December 15, 2017. They were married on July 28, 2018, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
