Schattdorf has a long history! The village was first mentioned way back in 1248. Back then, it was known by a slightly different name: Sachdorf.

Where is Schattdorf Located?
The municipality is nestled along the Reuss River. It sits between the Schächenbach stream and the Reuss. The main village is on the flat valley floor. However, it also stretches up the mountain side.
High up on the mountain, you'll find the small village of Haldi. Haldi is located about 1,079 meters (3,540 feet) above sea level.
