Schattdorf covers an area of about 16.3 square kilometers (6.3 square miles). A big part of this land, about 33.6%, is used for farming. Forests cover another large section, about 37.7% of the area.

About 11% of Schattdorf is built up with buildings and roads. The rest of the land, around 17.8%, includes natural features like rivers and mountains.

Where is Schattdorf Located?

The municipality is nestled along the Reuss River. It sits between the Schächenbach stream and the Reuss. The main village is on the flat valley floor. However, it also stretches up the mountain side.

High up on the mountain, you'll find the small village of Haldi. Haldi is located about 1,079 meters (3,540 feet) above sea level.
