How the Center Started
The idea for this museum began a long time ago, in 1967. Some groups called the Junior Women's Club and the Women's Club of Panama City wanted to create a children's museum. They started with small, temporary exhibits in 1969.
Opening and New Name
The museum officially opened its doors in 1981. Back then, it was called the Junior Museum of Bay County. Many years later, in 2010, the museum moved into a brand new building. The next year, in 2011, it got its current name: the Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida. This new name shows how much the museum has grown and what it offers today!
