The Story of Scotland, South Dakota
The city of Scotland was first planned in 1879. It was named by Scottish immigrants. They chose the name to honor their home country of Scotland.
Geography and Location
Scotland is a city made entirely of land. It covers an area of about 2.32 square kilometers (0.90 square miles).
South Dakota Highway 25 is a main road that goes through the city. Just east of Scotland, you'll find Lake Henry. This lake is a popular spot for local fishing.
