Scott Hall, Leeds facts for kids
Scott Hall is a lively area in north-east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It's right next to other places like Chapeltown and Meanwood. This area is part of the Leeds City Council wards of Chapel Allerton and Moortown. The Scott Hall area mostly has homes built in the 1930s. These homes are on both sides of Scott Hall Road and the streets nearby.
What's in Scott Hall?
The main road through Scott Hall is the A61 road. This road connects Leeds and Harrogate. It's known as Scott Hall Road here. You can catch First buses 7, 7A, or 7S along this road.
Just north of Potternewton Lane, you'll find shops. There's also the Scott Hall Leisure Centre. This sports center was updated in 2009. It cost £500,000 to make it even better!
Scott Hall Church is also in the area. It used to be called Scott Hall Christian Fellowship. It's a friendly church group. There's even a special guided bus route on Scott Hall Road. This route helps buses move faster.
The Caribbean Cricket Club uses Scott Hall Oval for games. Also, part of the Leeds Half Marathon race goes along Scott Hall Road.
Scott Hall's Past
The sports field near Scott Hall Road and Potternewton Lane used to be part of Scott Hall Farm. The old farmhouse is on Scott Hall Street. It's a special building called a Grade II listed building. This means it's important for history.
Bronte House is another big building. It's now used as flats. It was built in the 1930s for single women. You can find it where Buslingthorpe Lane meets Scott Hall Drive.
The PHAB club started in Scott Hall Avenue in 1970. PHAB helps young people with disabilities. It lets them enjoy activities with their able-bodied friends. This club began at the Prince Philip Centre.
