Scott Lake is named after a man named Spencer Scott. He was born in New Jersey in 1792. In 1846, Spencer Scott moved and settled right on the banks of this lake. Because he was one of the first settlers there, the lake eventually took on his family's name. Spencer Scott lived until 1872.
