Music Career
Creed
Scott Stapp was one of the founding members of the rock band Creed. He met his future bandmate Mark Tremonti when they were students at Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, Florida. They met again at Florida State University and became good friends because they both loved music. In 1994, Stapp and Tremonti started Creed. Brian Marshall joined as the bass player, and Scott Phillips became the drummer.
The band's first album, My Own Prison, came out in 1997 and was a huge success. It sold over six million copies. The album had four hit singles: "My Own Prison", "Torn", "What's This Life For", and "One". All of these songs were very popular on the rock music charts.
In 1999, Creed released their second album, Human Clay. It was an even bigger hit. The album sold so many copies that it was certified diamond and 11 times platinum by the RIAA.
Their next album, Weathered, was released in 2001 and was also very successful. The tour for this album was popular, but it ended with a difficult concert in Chicago. This event led to the band breaking up. In 2004, Creed announced they were no longer a band.
In 2009, the members of Creed announced they were getting back together. They released their fourth album, Full Circle, in October of that year. The band toured across North and South America, Europe, and Australia in 2009 and 2010 to support the album.
In 2012, Creed rehearsed for a special tour where they played their first two albums in full. After the tour, the band's future became uncertain, and they went on another break.
On July 17, 2023, Creed announced they would reunite for their first shows in 12 years. They headlined a rock music cruise called the "Summer of '99" in April 2024.
Solo Career
After Creed broke up in 2004, Stapp began working on his own music. He recorded the song "Relearn Love" for the album The Passion of the Christ: Songs, which was inspired by the movie The Passion of the Christ.
His first solo album, The Great Divide, was released in 2005. It was very popular and reached number 19 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album sold enough copies to be certified double platinum.
In 2010, Stapp went on a solo tour where he performed acoustic versions of his songs. That same year, he sang a cover of the song "Fortunate Son" on Carlos Santana's album Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time.
Stapp released his second solo album, Proof of Life, in 2013. His third album, The Space Between the Shadows, came out in 2019, and he toured to support it. In 2021, he worked with electronic music artists Wooli and Trivecta on the song "Light Up The Sky".
Art of Anarchy
In 2016, Stapp joined the band Art of Anarchy as their new lead singer. The band's first single with Stapp, "The Madness," was released in August 2016. Their album, also called The Madness, was released in March 2017 and received good reviews from critics. Stapp left the band in 2018.
Acting Career

In 2012, Stapp and his wife traveled to Japan to help victims of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. He worked with the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Armed Forces to visit towns that had been damaged. He also performed a concert for American troops stationed in Japan to thank them for their help.
Personal Life
Stapp was born in Orlando, Florida. He was raised by his mother, Lynda, and his stepfather, Steven Stapp, whose last name he took. He was inspired to become a musician by bands like Def Leppard and U2, as well as the singer Elvis Presley. He graduated from Lake Highland Preparatory School.
Stapp is a Christian. He has said that he feels a connection to God when he writes and sings his songs. In 2012, he wrote a book about his life called Sinner's Creed.
