Scottsburg is a city in Indiana, a state in the United States. It is the main city and county seat of Scott County. Scottsburg is located about 30 miles (48 km) north of Louisville, Kentucky. In 2020, about 7,345 people lived there.

History of Scottsburg

Scottsburg was officially planned and laid out in 1871. The city got its name from Horace Scott, who was an important official for the railroad. A post office has been open in Scottsburg since 1873.

Leota Country Frolic

Every year, on the fourth weekend in August, the Finley Township Volunteer Fire Department holds the Leota Country Frolic. This festival celebrates the area's country history. You can enjoy live bluegrass music, see old farm machines, and watch a watermelon eating contest. There are also arts and crafts, a quilt raffle, a flea market, and lots of good food. This event takes place in historic Leota, near its famous covered bridge.

Pig Roast in the Park

During the second weekend in August, the Scottsburg Beautification Committee hosts the Pig Roast in the Park. This event helps raise money for the city of Scottsburg. It features delicious food, live music, and a slow-pitch softball tournament. You can also find arts and crafts booths. The festival ends with a fireworks show.
