Scrap Metal was a cool band from Broome, Western Australia. They played a mix of rock music with touches of country and reggae. The band was special because its members came from many different backgrounds. They had Aboriginal, Irish, Filipino, French, Chinese, Scottish, Indonesian, and Japanese heritage.

The Band's Journey
Scrap Metal was active from 1983 to 1995. During this time, they achieved some amazing things. They toured all over Australia, even performing with the famous musical Bran Nue Dae and the well-known band Midnight Oil.
Making History
Scrap Metal made history by becoming the first Aboriginal band to sign an international publishing deal. This was a huge step for Indigenous music! Their journey was even featured in an ABC TV documentary called From Broome to the Big Smoke.
Awards and Recognition
In 1992, Scrap Metal won the 'Best Indigenous Act' award at the West Australian Music Industry Awards. This showed how much their music was loved and respected.
After Scrap Metal
After the band finished, some of its members continued making music. Alan, Stephen, and Phillip Pigram joined their brothers David, Colin, Gavin, and Peter. Together, they formed a new group called The Pigram Brothers.
Music Hall of Fame
In 2006, Stephen and Alan Pigram were honored for their contributions to music. They were inducted into the Western Australian Music Hall of Fame. This is a special award that celebrates great musicians from Western Australia.
