Stephen Pigram's Musical Journey

Stephen Pigram was born on January 20, 1960. He started playing music with his brothers, Alan and Philip, in Broome in 1977. Their first bands were called Crossfire and then Sunburn.

In 1981, Stephen joined a band called Kuckles in Adelaide. This band played Calypso and reggae music. The lead singer was Jimmy Chi. Kuckles also helped create two famous musicals, Bran Nue Dae and Corrugation Road. The band stopped playing together in late 1982.

Stephen, Alan, and Philip then started a new band called Scrap Metal in 1983. This band played rock, country, and reggae music. They toured all over Australia and released four albums. Scrap Metal broke up in 1995.

After Scrap Metal, Alan, Stephen, and Philip joined their other brothers, David, Colin, Gavin, and Peter. Together, they formed the Pigram Brothers. In 2006, Stephen and Alan were honored by being added to the Western Australian Music Hall of Fame. This is a special award for great musicians. In 2012, The Pigram Brothers were nominated for an ARIA Music Award for their World Music Album.

Stephen also worked on the 2011 film Mad Bastards. He helped produce the movie with Brendan Fletcher, David Jowsey, and his brother Alan Pigram. Stephen, along with Alex Lloyd and Alan, created all the music for the film. They also released a soundtrack album. Stephen received several awards and nominations for his work on the movie.
