A Look Back: The History of Scroggsfield

Scroggsfield got its unique name from a religious leader named Reverend E.N. Scroggs. He used to give sermons and preach outdoors in a field, which led to the name "Scroggsfield."

Back in 1831, an old record mentioned Fox Township, where Scroggsfield is located. It described the area as being in the southern part of Columbiana County at that time. The record also humorously called the post office in the area "ridiculously called Scroggsfield." Later on, Fox Township was moved from Columbiana County to help form the new Carroll County. This change helped shape the area as we know it today.
