You might also see large Green sea turtles, spiky Lionfish, and many different kinds of Starfish.
Protecting Ocean Life
Sea Life Kansas City is not just about seeing cool animals. They also work hard to protect ocean creatures and their homes. Here are some of the ways they help:
Seahorse Breeding Programs
Sea Life has successfully raised nine different types of seahorses. This helps make sure these special fish don't disappear from the wild. By breeding them in the aquarium, they don't need to take seahorses from the ocean. This also means they could help restock seahorses if they ever become extinct in the wild.
Rescuing Seals
Sea Life works with special places that care for seals. They help seal pups that have lost their parents or are hurt. Every year, more than 100 seals are rescued and then safely returned to the ocean.
Giving Animals a New Home
Sometimes, aquatic animals get injured or become disabled. If they can't survive in the wild, Sea Life provides them with a safe, permanent home. This gives these creatures a second chance at life.
Helping Sea Turtles
Sea Life has helped raise money to build a new Sea Turtle Rescue and Wildlife Information Centre. This center is on the Greek island of Zakynthos. It helps treat turtles that get hurt by boats or caught in fishing gear. This important work helps protect these amazing reptiles.
