The Seaview is a famous golf club located in Galloway Township, New Jersey. It's found on the East Coast of the United States, just north of Atlantic City. This club has hosted many important golf events, including the ShopRite LPGA Classic several times. It even hosted the PGA Championship in 1942 during World War II, where golf legend Sam Snead won his first major title.
Seaview is more than just a golf club. It's also a resort with two golf courses, called Bay and Pines. It has a large hotel with 300 rooms, tennis courts, and swimming pools. You can also find two mini basketball courts, jogging trails, a fitness center, and a spa here. The resort also works with Rutgers University to test new types of grass and find natural ways to control mosquitoes.
In 2010, The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey became the owner of the hotel and the Bay golf course. Later, in 2018, Stockton University sold the club to a company called KDG Capital LLC.

History of Seaview Golf
The Seaview golf club first opened in 1914. It was started by a rich businessman named Clarence H. Geist, and it was called the Seaview Country Club.
Designing the Bay Course
The first golf course at Seaview is known today as the Bay Course. It was partly designed by Hugh Irvine Wilson, who also designed famous courses at Merion Golf Club. The Bay Course opened in 1915. The next year, another famous golf course designer, Donald Ross, added sand bunkers to finish the course.
In 1998, the Bay Course was updated by Bob Cupp Jr. to look more like its original design. Today, the course has 71 pars, meaning a golfer should ideally take 71 strokes to complete it. In 2006, the order of the holes was changed to make it easier for players to move around the course.
Creating the Pines Course
In 1929, the club added a new nine-hole course. It was designed by William S. Flynn and Howard C. Toomey. Later, in 1957, William Gordon built another nine holes. These new holes were put together to create what is now known as the Pines Course.
In 1990, three holes were removed from the Pines Course to make space for a practice area. New holes were designed by Al Janis to replace them. Today, the Pines Course is also a par 71 course.
In 1984, the Marriott Corporation bought the club. They turned it into a resort that was open to everyone. Marriott sold the property to LaSalle Hotel Properties in 1998. However, Marriott continued to manage the resort until 2009. The Marriott Vacation Club owns the nearby Fairway Villas, which are vacation homes, and also the Pines course. Both golf courses and other fun facilities are open to guests staying at the hotel and the vacation club. After Marriott, Dolce Hotels and Resorts started managing the hotel, and Troon Golf managed the golf courses.
In 2009, Golfweek magazine named Seaview one of the best courses in New Jersey. Golf World magazine also gave it a Readers' Choice Award in 2009.
In July 2010, it was announced that The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey was looking to buy the hotel. On September 1, 2010, Stockton College completed the purchase.
Major Golf Tournaments at Seaview
The Seaview Country Club has hosted several important golf tournaments.
1942 PGA Championship
In 1942, Seaview hosted the 1942 PGA Championship. This was a match play event, where players compete head-to-head. Sam Snead won the final match against Jim Turnesa, claiming his first of seven major championships. He won by sinking a long chip shot from 60-foot (18 m) away on the 35th hole. For this event, a special course was used. It combined the first nine holes of the Bay Course with the nine holes designed by Flynn.
ShopRite LPGA Classic
In 1986, the Bay Course hosted the first Atlantic City Classic, which is an LPGA Tour event for women golfers. It hosted the tournament again the next year. The tournament, later renamed the ShopRite LPGA Classic, returned to the club in 1998. It stayed there until 2006 and then came back as an annual event in 2010.
