Club Career Highlights
Starting Out
Sebastian Mila was born in Koszalin, Poland. He started playing football for local teams like Gwardia Koszalin and Bałtyk Koszalin. When he was 16, he moved to Gdańsk and joined the youth teams of Lechia Gdańsk. At that time, the club was known as Lechia-Polonia Gdańsk because two teams had joined together.
First Steps with Lechia Gdańsk
Mila joined the main team at Lechia Gdańsk in the 1999–2000 season. He played his first professional game in March 2000. In his first season, he played 12 games and scored two goals. The next season, he played 22 times and scored two more goals. However, the team was moved down to a lower league, which caused the two merged clubs to split up again. Many players, including Mila, left the club.
Time at Orlen Płock
In the summer of 2001, Mila moved to Orlen Płock, another team in the second division. He played well in 15 games during the first half of the season. His good performances caught the eye of Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski, a team in the top league. Mila moved there during the winter break. Orlen Płock later finished second in their league and moved up to the top division.
Success with Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski
Moving to Dyskobolia brought early success for Mila. In his first full season, Dyskobolia finished second in the Ekstraklasa, which meant they could play in European competitions the next season. Mila played in every game of their European journey in the UEFA Cup. They beat teams like FK Atlantas and Hertha Berlin.
A special moment came when they played against Manchester City. After a 0–0 draw at home, Mila scored a fantastic free-kick goal against famous goalkeeper David Seaman in the away game. This goal helped Dyskobolia win and move forward in the competition. They were eventually knocked out by Bordeaux. That season, the club finished fourth in the league. The next season, Dyskobolia finished second in the Ekstraklasa again and won the Polish Cup.
Playing in Austria
In the middle of the 2004–05 season, Mila moved to Austria Vienna. In his first half-season, he played 13 games. Austria Vienna finished third in the league and won the Austrian Cup.
