Seguin is a small place in Sheridan County, Kansas, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's not an official town with its own local government. Seguin is about 10 miles west of a town called Hoxie. You can find it south of U.S. Route 24, and it's connected to this main road by Kansas Highway 188.

A Look Back at Seguin's History

Seguin has a simple but interesting past. It was once a small, active community.

Early Days and the Post Office

A post office opened in Seguin in 1889. This was a very important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1943.

Population and Settlers

In 1910, Seguin was a very small community. Only 11 people lived there at that time. Most of the early settlers in Seguin were German Catholics. They came to the area and helped build the community.

The Railroad's Role

A railroad line used to pass through Seguin. This line connected the towns of Plainville and Colby. It was about 99 miles long and was built in the late 1880s. The railroad was important for moving goods and people. However, this part of the Union Pacific Railroad was no longer used after 1998.
