Selma Bajrami, born on July 4, 1980, is a famous singer and songwriter from Bosnia. She is also a well-known media personality. Early Life and Music Beginnings

Selma was born in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. At that time, it was part of a country called Yugoslavia. Her mother was Bosniak, and her father was Albanian. She grew up in a village nearby called Mramor.

Selma stayed in Mramor during the Bosnian War (1992–1995). It was during this time that she first started singing in local cafes. In 1996, she moved to Tuzla.

Selma's Music Career

Selma's first solo album, Kad suza ne bude..., came out in 1998. It was released by "Nimfa Sound" record label. The album had 12 songs. Some of the most popular songs were "Njemu osmijeh, meni suze" and "Kad suza jednom ne bude".

Before her solo career, Selma was part of a pop group named "If". With them, she recorded two songs between 1999 and 2000. These songs were "Ne vjeruj muškarcima" and "Ne mogu bez tebe".

Rising to Stardom

Selma's second album, Ljubav si ubio gade, was released in 1999. This album made her very famous in Bosnia and Herzegovina. People started calling her a "star" early in her career. Big hits from this album included "Pijanico" and "Ljubav si ubio gade".

Her third album, Revolucija, came out in 2001. "Nimfa Sound" released it in Bosnia, and Grand Production released it in Serbia. This album had 10 songs. Popular songs were "Svi ste vi isti" and "Nije više osamnaest meni".

The fourth album, Žena sa Balkana, was released in 2002. This was Selma's last album with "Nimfa Sound". It had 12 songs, and hits included "Nana" and "Žena sa Balkana". The song "Žena sirena" (meaning "A woman - Siren") even became Selma's nickname.

Selma also tried to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. She sang the song "Zaljubena" in Sarajevo.

Major Successes

Selma's fifth album, Kakvo tijelo Selma ima, was released on December 27, 2004. This album was a big turning point for her. It became very popular across the entire Balkans region. The biggest hits were "Kakvo tijelo Selma ima" and "Tijelo uz tijelo". Selma also wrote music for some songs on this album.

Her sixth album, Ostrvo tuge (Island of Sadness), came out in April 2007. This album is considered her most successful. It sold over 200,000 copies in its first year. It has sold over a million records in total. Selma made music videos for "Ostrvo tuge" and "Promijeni se". The song "Lijepe žene" was also a huge hit. The album had 9 songs, including a duet with Aca Lukas. In the same year, Selma won awards for "Singer of the Decade" and "Album of the Year".

Selma's seventh album, Zakon sudbine (Law of Destiny), was released in May 2010. It had 14 songs. Some popular songs were "Voli me do bola" and "Sarajevo". This album sold over 100,000 copies. In 2011, Selma had her own reality show called "Voli me do bola: Reality Show". It was shown on Hayat TV in Bosnia. The show helped her choose dancers for her music video "Voli me do bola".

Recent Work

In 2012, Selma released the song "James Dean". After that, she took a break from music to focus on being a mother.
