Seminole is a small, unincorporated community located in Baldwin County, Alabama, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
Seminole is found along U.S. Route 90, a major road. It's about 14.4 miles (23.2 km) east of a town called Robertsdale. This community is part of the larger area of Baldwin County, which is known for its beautiful natural areas and coastal regions.
History of Seminole
The name "Seminole" has an interesting origin. The community was named after the Seminole tribe. The Seminole people are a Native American tribe that originally lived in Florida and parts of Alabama. Naming places after Native American tribes was a common practice as settlers moved into new areas.
A post office was opened in Seminole in 1894. This means that people living in the area could send and receive mail right in their own community. The post office served the residents for many years, operating until 1967. Even though the post office is no longer there, the community continues to be known as Seminole.
