Location of Senanga in Zambia

Senanga is a town in Zambia. It is the main town of the Senanga District. You can find it in the Western Province of the country.

The town sits on the eastern side of the Zambezi River. It is at the southern end of a large flat area called the Barotse Floodplain. Senanga is on the main road that runs next to the river. This road connects places like Livingstone and Sesheke to Mongu.

Recently, a new bridge called the Kaunga Lyeti Bridge was built. This bridge helps people cross the Kaunga Lyeti River. It is near the turn-off to Sioma, if you are coming from Sesheke or Katima Mulilo. New roads to Mongu and Sesheke have also made travel much better. These improvements have helped the local economy grow.

Senanga is a great place for nature lovers. It is about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Sioma Ngwezi National Park. It is also about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Ngonye Falls, a beautiful waterfall. The town has a hotel and is a good starting point for fishing trips by boat. A very tall radio mast stands out as a landmark in the town.

Because Senanga is on the Zambezi River, it has many fish. Every year, the town hosts the Zambia Sport Fishing Competition. People from Zambia and other countries come to take part. However, some people fish illegally in the area. This is a problem because it harms important breeding spots for fish like nembwe, tigerfish, and slidejaw.
