The Seralago Hotel: How It Started
The Seralago Hotel first opened its doors in March 1973. Back then, it had 228 rooms spread across four separate buildings. For its first 32 years, the hotel was part of the Holiday Inn family of hotels. This means it operated under the Holiday Inn name and rules.
Special Owners and Growth
One of the first owners of the hotel was a kind man named Henri Landwirth. He also started a special place called Give Kids The World Village. This amazing non-profit resort offers free week-long vacations to children with serious illnesses and their families.
Another famous owner of the hotel was John Glenn. He was a brave astronaut who flew into space. Later, he became a United States senator, working for his country in government.
The hotel grew a lot over the years. Many new rooms were added in 1975, 1979, and 1989. This added 445 more rooms, making it much bigger.
Cool Kids' Suites
The Seralago Hotel was one of the first to create "kids' suites." These are special hotel rooms designed with children in mind. They often have fun themes and include things like gaming consoles. Kids get their own private area to relax and play. Each of these suites can fit up to five people: two adults and three children.
Becoming Independent
On January 1, 2005, something big happened. The hotel's employees took over ownership from the Holiday Inn company. This made the Seralago Hotel an independent hotel. Today, the hotel property is owned by a company called Seralago Investments LLC.
