Where Did the Serranito Come From?
The serranito sandwich started in the 1970s. It became popular in some bars in the Cerro del Águila and Juan XXIII neighborhoods of Seville.
Later, a former bullfighter named José Luis Cabeza Hernández helped make the serranito even more famous. He was known as José Luis del Serranito when he was a bullfighter. He even got the name "Serranito" and the idea of the sandwich patented, which means he officially owned the rights to the name and the dish.
Smaller Serranitos
There's also a smaller version of the serranito. It's called a montadito. It's like a mini-sandwich, perfect for a quick bite!
