Seven Little Monsters, also known as 7 Little Monsters, is a fun animated TV show. It's about a family of seven unique monsters and their kind mother. The series is based on a book by Maurice Sendak, who also helped create the show. Each monster is named after a number from one to seven, and they all have special looks and personalities.

The show first aired in the United States on PBS Kids from 2000 to 2002. It was part of a special block of shows called PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch. In Canada, it was shown on YTV from 2003 to 2007. The series was made by companies like Nelvana and Hong Ying Animation.

There are 40 episodes in total, spread across three seasons. The show started in 2000 and the last new episode aired in 2003. You might remember the catchy theme song, which was performed by the Canadian band Barenaked Ladies. They are also famous for singing the theme song for The Big Bang Theory.

Meet the Monster Family

This section introduces you to the main characters of the show. Each monster is special in their own way!

The Seven Monsters

  • One (Joanne Vannicola): She's the oldest monster. One has wings and is a great athlete. She's a bit of a tomboy and sometimes tells on her siblings. But deep down, she really cares about them. She's the only one who can fly!
  • Two (Colin Mochrie): Two is the most helpful monster. He has a big nose that he sometimes "sticks into other people's business." In one episode, he accidentally leads his family into a forest full of fairy tales!
  • Three (Dwayne Hill): This monster loves to be dramatic! Three changes his voice and personality in almost every episode. This can sometimes cause funny problems for his brothers and sisters.
  • Four (Seán Cullen): Four is the middle child and can be a bit grumpy. He's often seen with his brother Five. Even though he complains sometimes, he really loves Five. He often wonders what new personality Three will have today.
  • Five (Seán Cullen): Five is the most childlike of the monsters. He doesn't say many words, and when he does, they're a bit hard to understand. Five loves to eat and cares a lot about his family. His silly actions can sometimes annoy Four. He has a super long tongue he can control!
  • Six (Michele Scarabelli): Six is the ballerina of the group. She thinks she's the prettiest monster. She loves feminine things, unlike her sister One. Six wears a purple tutu and carries a star wand. She speaks with a Queens accent.
  • Seven (Seán Cullen): Seven is the youngest and tallest monster. He can even unscrew his head! Despite looking a bit scary, he's the gentlest and most timid monster. He's afraid of bugs and loves cheese. He always asks what new words mean and has a voice like Boris Karloff.

Other Characters

  • Mom (Debra McGrath): She's the loving mother of the seven monsters. Mom is a kind witch who wears a babushka. She's smaller than her children and speaks with a Polish accent.
  • Mary: Mary is the monsters' friendly neighbor. She leads a club called the Purple Pixies.
  • Sam: Five's pet turtle.
  • Belinda: The monster family's pet cow.
  • Freddie: Mary's pet dog.
