This creek got its name because it was about 7 miles away from an old fort. The fort was called Fort Hamilton. Fort Hamilton was in a city now known as Hamilton, Ohio.

In 1913, Sevenmile Creek had a very big flood. This flood was part of a much larger event called the Great Dayton Flood. Many areas in Ohio were affected by this huge flood.
