Story of the Film
The movie is about the Donovan family. They move from sunny California to Connecticut. Seventeen-year-old Sydney (Tia Mowry) finds it hard to adjust. She misses her old friends and her mom, who passed away. Her dad, Barry, has also remarried.
Willie's Experiment Goes Wrong
Sydney gets a new job and meets Todd (Merwin Mondesir), a boy from her class. She likes him, but Todd's older sister, Ashley (Maia Campbell), is not nice to Sydney. Meanwhile, Sydney's 12-year-old brother, Willie (Tahj Mowry), is a super smart inventor. He loves to work on his science projects.
One day, Willie's dad, Barry, tells him to stop experimenting. This is because Willie's projects often go wrong. Willie wants to find a way to stop people from getting old. He creates a special anti-aging formula. But he accidentally spills some of it on a bar of soap.
Grandparents Become Teenagers
Later, Willie's grandma, Cat (Hope Clarke), uses the special soap. Without knowing, she turns into a 17-year-old (Tamera Mowry)! Her ex-husband, Gene (Robert Hooks), also uses the soap. He turns into a teenager too (Mark Taylor).
Cat and Gene have a blast being young again. They enjoy teenage romance and fun. But Willie soon learns his formula might have bad side effects. He needs to find an antidote fast. He must turn his grandparents back to their older, healthy selves.
Love and Family Lessons
As teenagers, Gene and Cat realize they still love each other. Cat is hesitant because Gene left her years ago for a job. Sydney talks to Cat about her own problems. Sydney misses California and hates being bullied by Ashley. Cat shares how she stood up to Ashley when she was young.
Gene thinks about his past choices. He realizes he made a mistake leaving his family. He decides to try and win Cat back. He goes to a dance, hoping to make up with her.
The Antidote and a New Beginning
At the dance, Sydney and Cat find Gene with Ashley. Gene and Cat share a dance and make up. But Cat suddenly faints because of the soap's side effects. Willie arrives with the antidote. Gene carries Cat to the school pool.
Ashley tries to stop them. Sydney, tired of Ashley's bullying, finally stands up to her. Everyone cheers for Sydney. Willie throws the antidote into the pool. Gene and Cat jump in and turn back to their older selves. Gene asks Cat to marry him again, and she says yes!
Sydney and Willie's parents, Barry and Monique (Tonya Lee Williams), come home. They are happy to see Cat and Gene together again. Sydney offers to help with the wedding plans. Then, Willie hears his dad, Barry, is in the shower with the special soap! Sydney and Willie must now stop their dad from using it.
