Tia Dashon Mowry (born July 6, 1978) is an American actress. She became well-known for her role as Tia Landry in the TV show Sister, Sister. She starred in this sitcom from 1994 to 1999 with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry.
The sisters also appeared together in the fantasy comedy movie Seventeen Again (2000). They lent their voices to the LaBelle sisters in the animated series Detention (1999–2000). Tia and Tamera also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches (2005) and its follow-up, Twitches Too (2007). From 2011 to 2013, they were featured in the reality show Tia & Tamera.
Mowry also voiced Sasha in the animated series Bratz (2005–2006). She played Melanie Barnett in the comedy-drama series The Game (2006–2012, 2015). Later, she starred as Stephanie Phillips in the sitcom Instant Mom (2013–2015). From 2019 to 2022, she played Cocoa McKellan in the sitcom Family Reunion.
Tia Mowry has also had leading roles in movies. These include the musical comedy The Mistle-Tones (2012) and the romantic comedy Baggage Claim (2013). She also appeared in the drama film Indivisible (2018).
In the early 1990s, Tia and her sister Tamera formed a singing group called Voices. Their first song, "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!", came out in 1992. It reached No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart.

Early Life and Family
Tia Mowry was born in Gelnhausen, West Germany, on July 6, 1978. Her mother, Darlene Renée Mowry, managed her children's careers. She also worked as a security guard. Her father, Timothy John Mowry, was in the U.S. Army when Tia was born. Later, he became a custody officer in Glendale when the family moved there.
Her father has English and Irish family roots. Her mother is of Afro-Bahamian descent. Her parents met in high school in Miami, Florida. Both joined the U.S. Army and became Sergeants. Her family is very close and spiritual.
Tia is two minutes younger than her twin sister, Tamera Mowry. Tamera was born at 4:30 PM, and Tia at 4:32 PM. She also has two younger brothers. One is actor Tahj Mowry. The other is musician Tavior Mowry, who played college football.
Acting Career Highlights
Mowry and her sister started entering pageants and talent shows. This was when their family lived at Fort Hood, Texas. At age 12, they convinced their mom to move to California. They wanted to pursue acting. Their mom agreed, but only if they found an acting job within a month. In 1990, their family moved to Los Angeles. Tia and Tamera began appearing in commercials and small roles.
Tia is famous for playing Tia Landry in Sister, Sister. In the show, she played a twin separated at birth. She reunites with her sister as a teenager. The show was created for them after a producer saw them on the set of Full House. Their brother made regular appearances on that show. Sister, Sister first aired on ABC. It then moved to The WB and ran for four more years.
During the show's run, they appeared on an episode of their brother Tahj Mowry's sitcom Smart Guy. They also did voice-over work for the Kids' WB series Detention.
After Sister, Sister ended, Tia and Tamera studied psychology at Pepperdine University. Tia also studied humanities and Italian in Europe. Mowry also voiced Sasha for the 4KidsTV cartoon Bratz. In 2005, Mowry and her sister starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches. They played their roles again in the sequel, Twitches Too. Before that, they co-starred in the 2000 movie Seventeen Again.
Tia also appeared on an episode of her sister's show, Strong Medicine, in 2006. She played Keisha, the twin sister of Tamera's character. Mowry had a main role in the BET series The Game. She played Melanie Barnett. Mowry was nominated for a Teen Choice Award and an NAACP Image Award for best actress in a comedy.
In 2011, the Style Network began airing Tia & Tamera. This reality show followed the twins' daily lives. Mowry and her sister are also singers. They sang on episodes of Sister Sister. They also sang the theme song for seasons five and six.
In May 2012, Mowry released her first book, Oh, Baby: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another. It was about her pregnancy and being a working mom. From 2013 to 2015, she starred in the Instant Mom series.
From 2015 to 2017, Mowry hosted her Cooking Channel series Tia Mowry at Home. She cooked many dishes like macaroni and cheese, curry chicken, and various cocktails. Some guests included her The Game co-stars and singer Kelly Rowland.
In 2016, Mowry started a podcast called Mostly Mom with Tia Mowry. In 2016, she appeared with her twin sister on The Real. She promoted her new book Twintution. Since 2019, she has starred in the Netflix comedy series, Family Reunion. The show has won multiple NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Children's Program.
In September 2021, Mowry released her second cookbook, The Quick Fix Kitchen. It includes mealtime tips and healthy recipes. In 2021, Tia partnered with Gibson to release a homeware collection called Spice! by Tia Mowry. In 2023, Mowry launched a haircare line named 4u by Tia.
Personal Life
Mowry met actor Cory Hardrict while working on their film, Hollywood Horror. They dated for six years. They got engaged on Christmas Day in 2006. They married in California on April 20, 2008.
In 2011, Mowry announced she was expecting her first child. Her pregnancy was shown on the Tia & Tamera show. She gave birth to a son in 2011. In 2017, Mowry announced she was expecting her second child, a girl. Their daughter was born in 2018.
In October 2022, Mowry announced that she and Hardrict were separating. In April 2023, Mowry and Hardrict finalized their divorce.
