Starting in Music
In the early 1990s, Tamera and her sister Tia joined an R&B singing group called Voices. Their first song, "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!", came out in 1992. It reached No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. Their mom, Darlene, took the twins out of the group before their first album was released. This happened after a disagreement with the group's management.
Acting on Television
When they were 12, Tamera and Tia convinced their mom to move to California. They wanted to become actresses. Their mom agreed, but only if they found an acting job within a month. In 1990, their family moved to Los Angeles permanently. Tamera and Tia started appearing in commercials and small TV roles.
Tamera and Tia became famous as the main characters in Sister, Sister. This TV show aired from 1994 to 1999. Tamera Mowry played Tamera Campbell.
