Loni Love was born on July 12, 1971. She is an American comedian, TV host, actress, and author. Before becoming famous, she was an electrical engineer. She started her career in comedy in the early 2000s.
Loni Love was a finalist on the TV show Star Search in 2003. She was also named one of the "Top 10 Comics to Watch" by Variety and Comedy Central in 2009. From 2013 to 2022, she was one of the hosts of the popular daytime talk show The Real.

Loni Love's Early Life and Career
Loni Love grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Before she became a comedian, she worked as an electrical engineer. She often talks about this experience in her comedy shows.
After finishing Cass Technical High School in 1989, she worked at General Motors. There, she helped put doors on cars. This job sparked her interest in electrical engineering. Loni then earned her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Prairie View A&M University in Texas.
While in college, she also studied music. She was part of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. It was during this time that she found her love for stand-up comedy. She won a $50 competition and started performing often.
From Engineer to Comedian
After college, Loni worked as an engineer at Xerox in California. She continued to perform stand-up comedy in clubs after work. She became a regular at the famous Laugh Factory.
After working at Xerox for eight years, Loni decided to leave her job to focus on comedy. She wanted to pursue her dream. She also appeared on a VH1 show called I Love the 2000s. On this show, she shared her thoughts on pop culture. She was also a panelist on the late-night talk show Chelsea Lately.
Loni's comedy career really took off in 2003. This was after she appeared on Star Search. She made it to the finals but lost in a close competition. Since then, she has been in many films and TV shows.
In 2009, Campus Activity magazine called her a "Hot Comic." She also won an award for best stand-up at the 2003 US Comedy Arts Festival. In 2008, Loni became a correspondent for CNN. She covered the inauguration of President Barack Obama. In 2009, she recorded her first one-hour Comedy Central special. It was called America's Sister. In July 2013, she released her first comedy advice book. It was titled "Love Him Or Leave Him But Don't Get Stuck With The Tab."
Hosting The Real and Other Shows
From July 15, 2013, to June 3, 2022, Loni Love was a co-host of The Real. She hosted the show with Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry. The show became very popular.
In 2015, Loni appeared in the comedy film Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 with Kevin James. She also won the ninth season of Worst Cooks in America in 2016. She won $50,000 for her chosen charity. In 2018, Loni and her The Real co-hosts won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. This was a big award for their work on the show.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Loni hosted a show on Instagram Live. It was called #quarantinewithloni. Her show attracted many viewers. Since January 2021, Loni Love has been a guest judge on Rupaul's Drag Race. She also hosts a podcast called "Squirrel Friends: The Official Rupaul's Drag Race Podcast" since 2022.
