Loni Love (born July 12, 1971) is a well-known American comedian, TV host, actress, and author. Before she became famous, she was an electrical engineer!
In the early 2000s, Loni decided to try something new. She switched from engineering to stand-up comedy. She quickly became very good at it. In 2003, she was a runner-up on the TV show Star Search. Later, in 2009, both Variety and Comedy Central named her one of the "Top 10 Comics to Watch."
From 2013 to 2022, Loni was one of the main hosts of the popular daytime talk show The Real.

Loni's Early Life and Journey to Fame
Loni Love was born in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in the Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects. After finishing Cass Technical High School in 1989, she worked for a short time on a General Motors car assembly line. This job made her interested in electrical engineering.
Loni then went to Prairie View A&M University in Texas. She earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. While at college, she also studied music. She was part of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. It was during college that she first tried stand-up comedy. She won a $50 competition and started performing often.
After college, Loni got a job as an engineer at Xerox in California. But she still loved comedy. So, she performed stand-up in clubs after work. She became a regular at the famous Laugh Factory comedy club. After eight years at Xerox, Loni decided to leave her engineering job to focus on comedy. She did this during a time of layoffs to help someone else keep their job.
Loni's comedy career really took off in 2003. This was after she appeared on Star Search. She made it to the finals but lost in a close contest. Since then, she has been in many movies and TV shows. In 2003, she won an award for best stand-up at the US Comedy Arts Festival.
In 2008, Loni became a reporter for CNN on the show D. L. Hughley Breaks the News. She even covered the inauguration of President Barack Obama. In 2009, she recorded her first one-hour comedy special called America's Sister. It aired in 2010. In 2013, she wrote her first comedy advice book. It was called "Love Him Or Leave Him But Don't Get Stuck With The Tab."
From 2013 to 2022, Loni was a co-host on The Real. She hosted alongside Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry. The show became very popular. In 2016, Loni won the ninth season of Worst Cooks in America. She won $50,000 for her chosen charity. In 2018, Loni and her co-hosts won a Daytime Emmy Award for their great work on The Real.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Loni started a show on Instagram Live. It was called #quarantinewithloni. Her show attracted many viewers, sometimes up to 100,000!
Since 2021, Loni has been a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race. She also hosts a podcast about the show called "Squirrel Friends: The Official RuPaul's Drag Race Podcast." She hosts it with Alec Mapa.
