Shadoe Stevens (born Terry Ingstad on November 3, 1946) is an American radio host, voice actor, and TV personality. He is well-known for hosting the popular music countdown show American Top 40 from 1988 to 1995. He also worked as the announcer for The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS. Today, he hosts the radio show Top of the World and is a main announcer for the Antenna TV network.

Early Life and Radio Beginnings

Shadoe Stevens was born in Jamestown, North Dakota. He became famous at a young age in 1957. A Life Magazine article called him "America's Youngest D.J." and showed a picture of him on the radio. The article mentioned he built his own radio transmitter at home. What wasn't widely known was that his family owned the radio station KEYJ (now KQDJ).

He started a weekly rock show called Spin with Terry. In high school, he hosted the Mister Midnight program. This is where he developed his unique "slow 'n low" speaking style.

College and Early Career in Radio

Stevens went to the University of North Dakota and the University of Arizona. He studied Commercial Art and Radio/TV Journalism. To pay for college, he worked at various radio stations. He became a very popular DJ in Tucson, Arizona, known as "Jefferson K."

After college, he joined WRKO in Boston in 1968. He worked during the station's most popular time. In 1970, he moved to Southern California to work at KHJ. His strong voice and energy quickly made him a favorite. Soon after, he became the announcer for The Steve Allen Show on national television.

Stevens also worked as a radio personality and program director at KRLA in Los Angeles. He helped make KMET-FM successful. Then, he created a new radio format for KROQ-FM, also known as "K-Rock," where he worked for five years.

Rise to Fame in the 1970s and 1980s

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Stevens became even more famous. He created and produced funny TV commercials for a store called Federated Group. These ads were so popular that they were featured in Time Magazine. This success led to movie deals, TV shows, and his role on American Top 40. From 1978 to 1979, he was also the off-camera announcer for the TV show Hot City, which featured disco music.

Acting Career Highlights

Shadoe Stevens first acted in a play called After the Fall in college. He got the main role and impressed everyone with his powerful voice.

He later became widely recognized as the announcer for two versions of Hollywood Squares. He appeared in the middle square of the bottom row. He also played Kenny Beckett on the TV show Dave's World from 1993 to 1997. You might have heard his voice as the announcer for the Fender Bender 500 parts of Wake, Rattle, and Roll.

In 1988, he starred in the movie Traxx. In 1990, he was the main character in the TV series Max Monroe: Loose Cannon. He also had a small role in the comedy film Mr. Saturday Night in 1992. In 1996, he voiced the character Doc Samson in The Incredible Hulk animated series.

In 1999, he made a guest appearance on Beverly Hills, 90210. He played Sonny Sharp, a former top radio DJ.

From late 2005 to March 2015, Stevens was the announcer for The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He even switched places with Drew Carey for an April Fool's Day special in 2014. Stevens continues to work with Craig Ferguson as the announcer for Join or Die with Craig Ferguson on the History Channel and The Craig Ferguson Show on SiriusXM radio.

Since July 2015, Stevens has been the main announcer for Tribune Media's television network Antenna TV. He has also written a series of children's books, with the first one, The Big Galoot, released in 2006.
