Shakial Taylor (born December 27, 1996) is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback, which is a defensive position. Shakial played college football at the University of Kansas.

Shakial Taylor's College Football Journey

Shakial Taylor started his college football career at South Dakota State. He played there for one year. After that, he moved to Mesa Community College.

At Mesa, Shakial had a great year. He stopped 18 passes from being caught. He also made one interception and 42 tackles. These are important defensive plays in football.

He then transferred to the University of Kansas. Many other colleges wanted him too. At Kansas, he played for two seasons. In his first year, he started nine games. He made 22 tackles and broke up six passes.

As a senior, Shakial had an even better season. He made 47 tackles and caught three interceptions. One of his interceptions was even returned for a touchdown! He also defended seven passes and forced two fumbles.

Playing in the NFL

Indianapolis Colts

After college, Shakial Taylor joined the Indianapolis Colts. He signed with them in May 2019. This was as an undrafted free agent. He played well during the preseason.

However, he was released from the team because of an injury. Later, the Colts re-signed him to their practice squad. He was then moved to the main team on October 5. Shakial played his first NFL game on October 6. He made one tackle and broke up a pass against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was later released by the Colts in November.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos then claimed Shakial Taylor. This happened on November 26, 2019. He signed a new contract with the Broncos in April 2020. However, he was released by the team in July 2020.

New York Giants

Shakial was then claimed by the New York Giants in July 2020. But he was released by them just five days later. He decided not to play in the 2020 NFL season. This was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was put on a special list for players who opted out. He was released by the Giants in February 2021.

Philadelphia Eagles
