Shamorie Saequan Ponds (born June 29, 1998) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a point guard for the Erdenet Miners in The League. Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for the St. John's Red Storm.

High School Basketball Journey
Shamorie Ponds played high school basketball at Thomas Jefferson High School. This school is located in Brooklyn, New York. In 2016, he helped his team win their first New York City title since 1954. After high school, he decided to play college basketball for St. John's. He chose to play there for coach Chris Mullin. Experts rated Ponds as a top player in the 2016 high school class.
College Basketball Highlights
Freshman Year Success
As a freshman, Ponds quickly became one of the best new players in the Big East Conference. He scored about 17.4 points per game. He also made 3.3 assists per game. He was the starting point guard for the St. John's Red Storm team. At the end of his first season, he was named to the conference's All-Freshman team.
Sophomore Year Achievements
After his first year, Ponds became a star player in the Big East. He gained national attention with some amazing games. He helped his team win against top-ranked teams like Duke and Villanova. He also scored 44 points in one game against the Marquette Golden Eagles. This was a record for the Carnesecca Arena. Because of his great play, he was named first-team All-Big East. He also won the Haggerty Award, which goes to the best college player in the New York City area.
Junior Year and Moving On
After his sophomore season, Ponds thought about joining the 2018 NBA draft. However, he decided to return to St. John's for his junior year. In his junior season, he averaged 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. After this season, he left St. John's to start his professional basketball career.
Professional Basketball Career
Time with the Toronto Raptors (2019–2020)
Shamorie Ponds was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. However, the Houston Rockets signed him to play in the 2019 NBA Summer League. Later, the Toronto Raptors signed Ponds to a special type of contract. This deal meant he would play for both the Raptors and their minor league team, the Raptors 905. On November 27, 2019, Ponds played his first NBA game against the New York Knicks. He scored 4 points in that game. He set a new personal best with 5 points on December 31, 2019. The Raptors later released him in January 2020.
Playing for Spars (2021)
In February 2021, Ponds joined Spars. This team plays in the Bosnian League. He played for them for the rest of the 2020–21 season.
With the Delaware Blue Coats (2021–2022)
Ponds was the very first player chosen in the 2021 NBA G League draft. He was picked by the Delaware Blue Coats.
Championship with Astros de Jalisco (2023)
In 2023, Ponds led the Astros de Jalisco team to a championship title in the CIBACOPA league. He was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Finals.
Joining the Erdenet Miners (2024–Present)
In December 2024, Shamorie Ponds became a player for the Erdenet Miners. This team is part of The League in Mongolia.

Shamorie Ponds is the son of Shawn Ponds and Lamell Brightwell. He has one brother named Shawn. He also has two sisters, whose names are Shamell and Shaniaya.
