Shanti Wintergate's Early Life

Shanti Wintergate was born in Hollywood, California. Her parents were both artists and musicians from Victoria, B.C.. She grew up in the mountains of Idaho.

She also went on tours in the United States and Europe. These included the Caballeros Akustika tour and the Vroom Vroom Vespa acoustic tour in 2010. She toured with other musicians like Kevin Seconds and Kepi Ghouli.

After a break, Shanti worked with Canadian producer Chris Wardman. They created the album Stranger Days in 2007. An acoustic version, Stranger Days Stripped, followed in 2008.

Play Date released their first album, Imagination, in 2012. It received good reviews from NPR. The album won a Parents' Choice Award in 2014. In 2013, Play Date performed at the kids' stage at ACL Fest. They also played at Lollapalooza in 2014.
