Relatives Latrell Mitchell (brother)

Shaquai Mitchell (born March 19, 1996) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays as a prop, which is a forward position, for the South Sydney Rabbitohs team. This team competes in Australia's top rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL). Shaquai is also the older brother of famous rugby league player Latrell Mitchell.

Shaquai Mitchell's Early Life and Journey

Shaquai Mitchell started his rugby league journey at a young age. He was part of the Sydney Roosters team for players under 20 years old. In 2014, he won an SG Ball title with this team. His younger brother, Latrell, was also on that winning team.

Later, Mitchell played for the Wyong Roos in the NSW Cup. In 2018, he weighed 175 kilograms (about 385 pounds) while playing. By 2022, he had worked hard and lost over 25 kilograms (about 55 pounds).

He then began training with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. His goal was to play in the NRL, the highest level of the sport. This happened after he made his first appearance for the Indigenous All Stars team.

Shaquai Mitchell is proud of his Indigenous Australian heritage. He comes from the Birrbay and Wiradjuri peoples.

Shaquai Mitchell's Rugby League Career

Mitchell made his first big appearance for the Indigenous All Stars team. This was during the 2022 All Stars match. It was a special game showcasing Indigenous talent.

He then made his debut in the top-level NRL. This happened in round 8 of the 2022 NRL season. He played for South Sydney against the Manly-Warringah team. The game was held at Central Coast Stadium, and South Sydney won 40–22.

The 2023 Season

In the 2023 NRL season, Mitchell played eleven games for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. His team finished 9th on the ladder, which meant they just missed out on playing in the finals.

On September 24, 2023, Mitchell also played in the NSW Cup Grand Final. He helped South Sydney win this important game against the North Sydney team.

The 2024 Season

Mitchell played six matches for South Sydney during the 2024 NRL season. The team finished 16th on the table that year.

On September 23, 2024, Shaquai Mitchell signed a new contract. This extended his time with the South Sydney Rabbitohs for another year.
