Shaun Chen (born on November 3, 1978) is a famous actor from Malaysia. He used to be a national badminton player! Shaun is now based in Singapore where he works.
He started his career as a host for a TV show called City Beat. Later, in 2003, he began acting in TV shows like True Heroes and Holland V. Shaun became very popular in 2015 when he won three awards at the Star Awards 2015. These included the Best Actor award and his first award for being one of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes!

Early life and education
Shaun Chen was born in Jelebu, Negri Sembilan, Malaysia. He is the youngest of seven children in his family.
When Shaun was 13, he moved to Seremban to study. He also became a badminton player for the state team. He tried to join the national badminton team but didn't make it. After that, Shaun studied electronic and electrical engineering at a private college.
Career journey
Before he moved to Singapore, Shaun had many different jobs in Malaysia. He worked as an electrician, a car spray-painter, and even sold credit cards and glasses. He also worked as a model and appeared on big billboards!
Early in his acting career, Shaun was known for playing "bad guys" or villains. He even got nominated for a Best Supporting Actor award in 2006 for his role in the show CID.
In 2011, Shaun starred in a very popular TV show called Love Thy Neighbour.
Becoming a top actor
In 2015, Shaun won the Best Actor award at the Star Awards 2015 for his role in The Journey: Tumultuous Times. This was a huge moment for him! In the same year, he also won his first award for being one of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. He also received the Rocket Award, which celebrates actors who have made big improvements.
Winning these awards helped him become a top actor, also known as an "A-lister." Since then, Shaun has played main roles in many big TV shows like My Friends From Afar and Hero (2016 TV series).
In 2018, he was nominated for Best Actor again for his work in My Friends From Afar. Shaun has won the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes award seven times! He won in 2015, and then every year from 2018 to 2024.
Business ventures
In July 2023, Shaun Chen also started a business! He invested a lot of money in a fancy bar called The Gold Club. It is located in Orchard Road in Singapore.
Personal life
Shaun's birth name is 陈节隆 (Chén Jiélóng). He chose the stage name 陈泓宇 (Chén Hóngyǔ) when he started acting in 2003.
Shaun married his girlfriend, Michelle Chia, in May 2009. They were together for six years before getting married. They later divorced in April 2011 but remained friends.
In July 2015, Shaun married his Malaysian girlfriend, Celine Chin. He kept their relationship private until October 2015, when he announced they were expecting a baby. Shaun and Celine now have two daughters.
