Discover Shawanaga Lake
Shawanaga Lake is known as a "warm water lake." It has a long, narrow shape. The lake's shoreline stretches across three different areas: Hagerman, Fergusson, and Burpee. Many people enjoy boating on the lake.
Getting There
You can reach Shawanaga Lake in a couple of ways. Shawanaga Lake Road runs along the north side of the lake. This road is usually open during certain seasons. If you want to use the public boat launch, you'll find it on the southern part of the lake. You can get there by using Lorimer Lake Road.
What's Around Shawanaga Lake?
Just above Shawanaga Lake, you'll find a large protected area called the Shawanaga Lake Conservation Reserve. This reserve is a huge natural space, covering about 4,937 hectares (that's like 12,200 acres!). It's located in the geographic Townships of East Burpee and Hagerman.
Lakes in the Reserve
The Shawanaga Lake Conservation Reserve is home to many smaller lakes. These include Dunchurch lake, Boyd lake, De Volve lake, Blue lake, Snakeskin lake, Snake lake, Canning lake, Hobson lake, and Bell lake. This reserve helps protect the natural environment and wildlife in the area.
