About Shawn Emanuel
His Early Life
Shawn Emanuel was born in London on January 5. He grew up in West London with his mother. His father is a reggae artist known as Dixie Peach. Shawn is the second of four children.
Even when he was very young, Shawn loved music. Before he started primary school, he was often seen playing a small keyboard and trying to sound like his favorite artists, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.
When he was at Fox Primary School in West London, his mother sent him to piano lessons every week. This helped him develop his musical passion. He also learned to play the cello and attended the Centre for Young Musicians Weekend College when he was a teenager.
Shawn later studied at The Brit School, which is famous for performing arts. He also learned about sound and lighting, which helped him feel even more comfortable on stage. Shawn also attended Westminster Theatre Arts and was part of Sabrina Guinness’s YCTV.
Starting His Music Career
Shawn Emanuel was part of a few boy bands before he decided to become a solo artist. He recorded a song called "Shake That Thing" with British rapper Estelle.
After this, he got the chance to tour with famous singers. He opened shows for Kelly Rowland on her Simply Deeper Tour. Later, he supported Beyoncé Knowles during the European part of her Dangerously in Love Tour. He also opened for Destiny's Child on their Destiny Fulfilled ... And Lovin' It tour in Europe.
Soon after, rapper Kanye West invited Shawn to join his Late Registration tour. Shawn also toured with other popular groups and artists like the Sugababes, Jagged Edge, and Missy Elliott.
The DreamWorld Album
In May 2004, Shawn Emanuel signed a five-album deal with EMI, a big music company. His first album with EMI was going to be called "Dreamworld." This album was recorded in an old-school Motown style. This meant they recorded his singing live on tape, not digitally.
His first song from the album, "Slow it Down," was released on May 29, 2006. His second song, "U Better Believe it," came out on October 16, 2006. A famous mixer named Tom Elmhirst, who has won many Grammy Awards, mixed all the songs. However, the "Dreamworld" album was never officially released because Shawn left EMI in 2007.
